Welcome to Transcend Trauma UK
At Transcend Trauma UK, we are driven by our personal and professional experiences with trauma, as well as our passion for helping others. With over 30 years of experience, we have dedicated ourselves to providing a safe and empathic space for those who have experienced trauma.
Our goal is to help individuals rebuild, restore, and rewrite their lives after traumatic events. We provide a variety of services, including individual counselling, training, healing workshops and retreats. Our approach is tailored to meet individual needs, providing various platforms, advocating for change, and offering both therapeutic support and training.
We passionately believe there is life beyond trauma, but are only too aware of the challenge in overcoming the experiences, the triggers and the symptoms that trauma leaves behind. We want to support in making this journey more manageable.
Advocating for Change
At Transcend Trauma UK, we believe in promoting trauma informed practice and advocating for change in how trauma is understood and treated. Our dedication to providing effective and innovative services extends to our efforts to create a more supportive and understanding environment for those affected by trauma.
Our current focus is working with medical students to help to develop an understanding of how medical environments can be challenging for people who have experienced trauma, and helping them think of ways to reduce this.
Who Are We?
Geraldine
I am an accredited member of the BACP and work as an integrative counsellor. I have specialised in sexual abuse and assault, and have significant experience of working with dissociative clients. I find that my integrative approach to counselling using - person centred, Transactional Analysis and inner-child therapy working creatively and flexibly with your needs works especially well with clients who are searching for empowerment and autonomy. I like to work holistically (with the 'whole' person rather than on specific issues) - for your continual well-being.
Whatever your reason for contacting us, you will be met with empathy and kindness in a space free from judgement.
I have experience of group and individual work.
Cathy
I am a qualified social worker with experience in child protection, education, child mental health and therapeutic services. I have worked extensively with sexual and domestic abuse across the life span.
My work has involved working with both individuals and groups to understand and process their life experiences in a therapeutic way and then to formulate a way to live beyond what happened. I have been privileged to share the healing journey with so many children, adults and families.
I also work with professionals and have written and delivered training to a wide range of groups throughout my career including for the NSPCC, to local authorities and in collaboration with the Anna Freud Centre.

Our Story
We met in 2017 when Geraldine first became Cathy's counsellor. Since that time we have worked together in total for around 3 years, before completing therapy.
Cathy had experienced multiple and complex trauma throughout her life and had reached the point where she felt ready to address this. We had some sessions together as part of an organisation that were time limited. However, as is often the case, the 12 sessions were not enough. Cathy was dissociating frequently and time ran out. Later we were able to work together again, as Cathy sought Geraldine out, feeling she was the only counsellor who had truly understood her.
Over the time we worked together the true extent of the dissociative disorder and fragmentation became apparent. Over the next 2 years we worked together in creative ways to reach a place of freedom.
It was the unique nature of the work, and our combined experience that brought Transcend Trauma to life.
